Help using Vision Assistant

If you need instructions inside the app, say "help." The app will speak the available commands and explain what to do next.

Quick start

Allow camera, microphone, and speech recognition permissions. Then point the phone toward what you want described.

Common questions and fixes

Getting started

Open the app, listen to the spoken introduction, and keep the camera pointed toward the space, object, or text you want described.

Voice commands

Try commands such as "help," "describe," "read text," or "find" followed by the object you are looking for.

Permissions

Camera access is used for visual understanding. Microphone and speech recognition access are used for hands-free voice commands.

Better results

Improve lighting, hold the phone steadier, move closer to text, and make sure the network connection is working.

When the app is quiet

Check that the phone volume is up, silent mode is off, and speech recognition permission is allowed in Settings.

Safety reminder

Use Vision Assistant as an awareness tool, not as the only source of navigation, safety, emergency, or medical information.

Why does the app ask for camera access?

The camera lets Vision Assistant describe scenes, identify objects, and read visible text.

Why does the app ask for microphone and speech recognition?

Those permissions let users control the app by voice and ask for help without needing to read the screen.

What should I do if text reading is inaccurate?

Move closer, hold the phone still, avoid glare, and make sure the text is well lit and inside the camera view.

Can Vision Assistant replace a cane, guide dog, or mobility training?

No. Vision Assistant is only an assistive awareness tool and should not replace mobility aids, trained assistance, or personal judgment.
